What is Hydrographics?

Hydrographics has quite a few generic names. Just a few of these names are hydro dipping. water transfer, hydrographic printing, hydro printing, water transfer printing, immersion printing, camo dipping, and many more. Now that you know what hydrographics is called, the next question is what is it? In a nutshell, it is transferring a specific hydro dipping pattern from a film roll to an object of your choosing. Once you can envision that, think of the possibilities. Do you like camo? Then picture a beautiful camo design painted on your gun, ATV, bows, automotive trim, cell phone cases, or our personal favorite, golf cart accessories and bodies.

What Else Can It Be Applied To?

The answer to that question is almost any three dimensional object that is made of plastic, wood, glass, or even metal. Simply put, If it can be placed in water and painted, it can more than likely be dipped.

What is the Process?

The hydro printing process is very straight forward. You begin by prepping the item by washing and sanding it. The next step is applying primer and base coat. Some products today have primer and base coat both, thereby reducing this step by using an all in one base coat. Your choice of a film pattern (aka hydro dipping pattern)is then cut to the necessary size and laid on the surface of the water in our hydrographic printing tank. We then apply an activator product to the film. After a brief waiting period the film converts to a liquid ink and subsequently floats on the surface of the water. This allows us to dip the item into the liquid ink. This is where is gets fascinating. The ink literally wraps around an object in a three dimensional way. Once the object dries, an automotive grade clear-coat is applied to the new finish to maximize its durability for a lasting finish.
